Morning lays it's cold dewy blanket a top the sea of grass,

clinging to the day's last once of warmth for night to surpass.

Your embrace is familiar company,

though I lay contemplating the irony.

Gentle hands with a coarse mind,

I recognize the pieces you keep confined.

I wish I knew the tongue of trees or how they spoke to one another,

then perhaps I could learn more about you, I wonder.

Neurons pulsing to and fro translating foreign signs,

it's like reading an encryption of a brain that was never mine.

As seasons change under our feet and back at home,

I can't help but feel more alone.

Peace is the cold days walking on my own,

when you hold my hand I see the best intentions shown.

Dusk transcends over the horizon to bring ambient darkness,

though we may not be the one, hold me close regardless.

The philosopher's idea that opposites attract should come at a price,

but perhaps they know about the cold days and warmer nights.
