When I was twenty-one,
I felt the seams come undone.
When I was twenty-two,
my faith nearly grew.
When I turned twenty-three,
I thought I had discovered the real me.
When I turned twenty-four,
I embarked upon the world as my dance floor.
When I turn twenty-five,
my only hope is to feel alive.
For now I look to twenty-six,
perhaps then I will feel mended,
but who knows; that is still open ended.
This poem, is a modified version of the late writer, A. A Milne's poem "Now We Are Six". Alan Alexander Milne is best known for his children's book "Winnie the Pooh". His life story is quite extraordinary and he was a very imaginative man -- I highly recommend taking a quick look at his life. If you wish to read the origin of this poem, here is a link to learn more.
I hope you enjoyed reading my version of this short poem and maybe think of your own trajectory!
